I'm in 'no fit state' for circus¬! ... yet

Yesterday my beautiful best friend, Ellie, took me, King & Jodie to Southbank Centre in London to see 'Nofit State Circus' with the tickets she got for Christmas.

My expectations were nothing to what I saw. From start to finish I was completely taken over by the show and sucked in to the cast's energy and stage presence. It started with a few actors on stage just setting up and walking around, so nice to see instead of the usual - curtains opening and being shown a massive, overdone set and stage¬!!

The show was beautifully put together and every second was unpredictable... one second there would be one actor on stage, juggling, the next there'd be several actors jumping out of the ground or throwing themselves from the ceiling (attatched to ropes of course) nevertheless, the sheer core strength and physical ability was enough to make my jaw drop. The constant sound of gasps from the audience suggested nothing other than complete awe and astonishment.

I sat in my seat, feeling rather unfit, despite being a 'Physie'.. I want... no, I'm going to learn to juggle, learn to do the splits again, trapeze one day, maybe, and HULA THE F**K out of a hoop.¬!!

Seeing the world through mask eyes..

It's Monday night. I'm surrounded by spliffs, hot chocolate and music after a bloody good first day of Priority Week at school with our new teacher ¬(this term) Andre!! We're doing Larval Masks this week.

After studying masks and commedia last year at college with just the regular neutral masks, I was super duperly excited to try on these masks today.. and became even more excited when we saw them in the flesh. They are absolutely beautiful!! Peculiar, but beautiful!

I immediately wanted to put one on and just "do" masky things... how I underestimated it so! ¬ Neutral mask (after studying for a year) pretty simple... well, not exactly ¬ definitely could get much better .. but Neutral masks have nothing on Larval!!

For one, they're a lot heavier¬ creating more discomfort when worn.. won't complain though..
They're also much bigger and more restricting. I found the first one I wore completely stopped comfortable head movements and body movement!! I felt stuck in the mask as oposed to 'carrying' it.

After the first exercise I was frustrated immensly.. ¬ felt completely shit and just wanted to try again..
Anywho,.... after the break we worked on them more, I used a different mask and enjoyed it a lot more.. Think I understood how to wear them, look through the tiny eye-holes and move afterwards!

Bring on the rest of the week

It's Chicken Time

I have sinned. I'm a terrible flat mate. A terrible person. I'm past saving. Unreedemable. I'm a naughty, chicken stealing student.

But you know what they say.. 'it takes two to tango', in this case - four. Four, naughty chicken stealing students.

Ok, bad I know, but here's the thing... our flat kitchen, the communal area in which we dine... is left, absolutely disgusting by the boys in our flat... mainly Kenneth and Alex, the two Asian students who are sweet as hell but that's no reason they should be able to leave the kitchen so apallingly grose!!
I have nagged and nagged..and asked nicely.. and nagged for them to wash up after themselves, not leave raw meat on the side, wipe the sides, put their stuff away... and they don't listen.. so it's only right that I should indulge a little when one of them leaves a chicken roasting in the oven!! OK it sounds seriously awful, but honestly... the kitchen is disgraceful!! And they take no notice, disrespect will not be taken in this flat... so, we ate their chicken!!

I'm going to hell, i'm aware of this..

But my God, it was good chicken!

The carcass (evidence) was well & truly hidden after.. all that's left of that sweet, juicy meal is the guilt. PURE STUDENT GUILT

HOME IS WHERE THE STUDENT IS

Got back to my beautiful, tetris block student accomm' earlier today, and it feels great!!!
Already seen some of my fellow classmates and school associates!!

It's a new year, a new term and I couldn't be more excited to go back to school.. the first term whizzed by so quickly and I didn't have a chance to let it sink in due to excitement and overwhelming circumstances... but this term I am grabbing by the testicals and soaking every bit of it in!! There's nothing stopping me now!!

I don't tend to do NEW YEAR resolutions so I won't!! Because I don't stick to them...

What I will do however is :

  • WRITE MORE
  • EXERCISE MORE
  • BLOG MORE
  • LOSE SOME WEIGHT
  • FIND HAPPINESS IN SOMETHING EVERY DAY
and some more... but they're secret.

I sit now in my little room, listening to Vampire Weekend and unpacking my suitcase... joys!!
